Hastings Public
Interest Law Foundation (HPILF)
What is HPILF?
HPILF is a separately incorporated 501c.3 non-profit organization. This
website in no way represents the views of UC Hastings College of the Law.
What does HPILF do?
HPILF supports students at the University of California, Hastings College
of the Law who are pursuing careers in the public interest. HPILF members
primarily work throughout the year to raise funds to provide grants to
Hastings students who devote their summer to working in the public
interest. We also help educate students about public interest opportunities
within and outside of Hastings.
How can I get involved?

Involved page to join our organization.
Grants
Each year, HPILF awards grants to Hastings students working in the public
interest. HPILF uses a broad definition of public interest, relying on
applicants to explain how their work is in the public interest.
The
Gala Auction
The Gala Auction is HPILF's main fundraising event. It is an exciting
evening of food, entertainment and bidding.
Envision
Public Interest
Envisioning Public Interest is an annual panel of public interest
professionals. The goal of the conversation is to begin defining
"public interest," as well as to provide students role models for
their future careers.
Dis-Orientation
During 1L orientation, HPILF puts on Dis-Orientation.
Dis-Orientation is an afternoon of food and
drinks during which incoming students are introduced to public interest
student organizations on campus.
